Climate finance: Morocco, Maghreb leader

Morocco is a leader in the Maghreb in preparing its financial system to deal with climate risks and support related action. The Kingdom is thus better rated than Tunisia where no issue of green bonds or “Sukuk” has been carried out and where awareness-raising provisions are still limited. The Kingdom is also doing better than Algeria which has no regulation in the financial sector to support climate action and where climate finance activity is in its infancy.

Natural gas, a source of transition to renewable energies

Natural gas might be a source of transition to renewable energies. Its use should be facilitated by incentive public policies. The conclusion is from the HCP, delivered in its latest publication “Les briefs du plan”. The analysis proposes three types of models going beyond the classic identification of the price/income effect in order to explore the existence of other mechanisms supposed to better understand the challenges of the energy transition. These refer, first of all, to the demographic dimensions, largely neglected in many works.
