The French group Daft Punk will not reform for the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics, says Wednesday October 24 on the social networkThomas Jolly, artistic director of the ceremonies for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris. “I respect this decision and apologize for the ambiguity of my comments”he writes.

“My comments were confusing and generated a lot of expectations. I must clarify: After discussing a possible presence at the ceremony, the group’s decision is not to participate”he wrote on X this Wednesday.

Guest of France Inter on TuesdayThomas Jolly confided that he would be “very happy” that Daft Punk “be in this ceremony”. Later during the interview, Léa Salamé asks him “to confess a bad thought”. The artistic director of the Paris 2024 Games ceremonies responds with a smile: “I lied a little regarding Daft Punk”. The interviewer reacts: “It’s done, it’s not under negotiation”. Thomas Jolly does not invalidate.

Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo ended their collaboration in February 2021.
