ACTOR Daffa Wardhana said that his latest film, Approaching Death, not only shows shocking horror scenes but also contains a touching message regarding a mother’s struggle to support her three children alone.
“Parents definitely have their own way of fighting for their own children, of course the emotional scenes also make me grateful for my mother,” said Daffa at a screening of the film Approaching Death in Jakarta, Friday (26/4).
Daffa said this film tells the drama of the struggle of a single mother named Sekar who has to support her three children by selling food in a stall. However, Sekar’s method of selling his merchandise was using the wrong medium, which ultimately had a negative impact on him and his children, which was life-threatening.
Daffa admitted that he was lucky to be able to play in this film and was acting for the first time with Shareefa Danish who played Sekar, Dani’s mother, played by Daffa.
“This is the first time playing with Danish. Brother Danish is also very helpful, but I won’t lie, following filming or while waiting for a take, I like to ask questions to Brother Danis and bring up the scene, this is part of my career journey,” he said.
In one scene, Daffa is also required to have an emotional dialogue with Danish in one frame, which makes it a challenge in itself because this scene is the first 10 minutes that determine whether the audience will stay in the film or not.

Apart from that, another challenge that Daffa faces in this film is when she has to act as a strong older sister but also on the one hand fragile and survives for her younger siblings.
He also had to act once morest the evil spirit that had possessed his mother because of a pesugihan agreement with a genie.
“I myself don’t have a brother or sister, I’m an only child, so that’s a difficulty. I don’t relate to having a brother or sister, I’m just helped here by friends and a great director,” said Daffa.
The film Approaching Death will be shown in cinemas starting April 30. (Ant/Z-1)
