Ramón Ayala, better known as Daddy Yankee, officially announced his retirement from music this Sunday. Through a video shared on his YouTube account, he sent a message to all his followers.
With a video that lasts just over 3 minutes, he thanked all the support that was given to his career. His farewell is accompanied by a new album “Legendaddy” and a tour of America. “This race that has been a marathon, I finally see the goal,” started the exponent of urban music.
“In this genre, people say that I made it world wide, but it was you who opened the door for me to make this genre the biggest in the world,” he continued, thanking all his fans for the success obtained in 32 career years.
During his message, “The boss” of reggaeton visualized the great problem that exists with drug trafficking but recognized that in Puerto Rico his music influenced some young people to decide to focus on art. “In the neighborhoods where we grew up, most of us wanted to be drug traffickers. Today, I go down to the neighborhoods and the hamlets and most of them want to be singers. That means a lot to me.”
“Formally, today I announce my retirement from music, giving you my best production and my best concert tour, and I am going to say goodbye to these 32 years of experience with this collector’s item, entitled ‘Legendaddy'”, which will be released on the 24th. of March.
