Miami, May 15 (EFE).- The Puerto Rican reggaeton player Daddy Yankee will be one of the new owners of the franchise of the Orlando (Florida) team of the Professional Paddle League (PPL, in English), the first in North America.
“I want to be a part of this and leave a legacy,” the singer said in a statement.
“Paddle reminds me of the early stages of reggaeton in the 90s, when it was just beginning. It is at the same stage and the Pro Padel League has great potential to grow the sport and become bigger,” he added, who has already retired of the scenarios.
Another of the new owners is Tobías Enrique Carrero, a shareholder of the Miami Marlins.
The PPL High Performance Team Competition began last Saturday with seven teams and will conclude on June 11.
The PPL is dedicated to creating a top-level padel sports league.
It has more than 25 million players worldwide and is growing in popularity in the United States and Canada.
Originally from Mexico, this sport has become one of the fastest growing in the world, gaining popularity in Europe as well.
