Dacia Duster, not just value for money. Design and technological contents are of a superior category

Along with value for money, design continues to be one of the main reasons to buy the Duster. But it’s not just about the exterior: the car has also been deeply renovated in the interior, which is spacious and capable of transmitting robustness, a sense of protection and – not least – modernity, given the care taken in choosing eco-friendly materials such as those used for the Extreme trim, which includes washable TEP microcloud upholstery and mats made of 20% recycled materials.

Consistency with the external style It is also found in the shape of the air vents that draw inspiration from the design of the wheel arches, while the new, higher and wider vertical dashboard conveys a certain sense of protection, as well as housing everything that is useful for careful and safe driving. Particular attention has been paid to ergonomics, with the 10.1-inch central display tilted 10 degrees towards the driver and placed in his field of vision (not on the basic trim).

The steering wheel, flattened up and down, it is very convenient to use and makes it easier to get into the car; the new automatic transmission control (associated with the Hybrid 140 engine) is particularly ergonomic and the features designed to improve the quality of life on board are useful. The interior space has increased, especially in terms of the width at the front, but the rear area intended for the passengers’ knees has also grown (+30 mm) and a new feature called YouClip has been introduced, which allows you to attach additional elements such as storage pockets, drink holders, bag hooks and smartphone and tablet holders. And more: the loading floor is now lower and the boot opening is wider and higher. The capacity has increased by 6%, for a total of 472 litres on the front-wheel drive version, 445 on the four-wheel drive version. Interestingly, the Pack Sleep module can also be inserted in the boot, which transforms the car into a sort of mini camper with a 190×130 cm double bed. There is also a table and a storage container to place on the roof.

On the hi-tech front the introduction of a new on-board computer with a 7” digital display and a 10.1” central touchscreen associated with a new multimedia system is appreciated, which ensures everything needed to make the Duster a more technological and smarter car. Among the pluses, the possibility of updating the software remotely.

The speech is about also the ADAS equipment, with the introduction of new driver assistance devices that meet the latest European safety regulations. Therefore, there is no lack of automatic emergency braking, with recognition of vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and motorcycles; road sign recognition with alert in case of excess speed; parking assistance, emergency stop signal, lane departure warning, lane keeping assistance, driver attention monitoring, emergency call. If that were not enough, a My Safety button has also been provided, which allows quick access to the preferred configuration of the driver assistance devices.
