Dacia accelerates gently. First, the new generation of its best-selling Duster, then comes the Bigster. This will be followed by the next innovation from the Romanian firm!

With the Spring, Dacia succeeded in bringing what was dubbed “the cheapest electric car in Europe” to the market. Today the Mioveni manufacturer is preparing its second zero-emission work, in this case the 100% electric Sandero. Dacia Sandero is preparing for electrification, and the boss of Dacia has announced the “green” future of the very popular sub-compact model in the Old Continent.

True to its values, Dacia promises that the electric Sandero, which will also be the first largest Dacia with electric propulsion, will have a very affordable price. CEO Denis Le Vot explains to British magazine Autocar how Dacia’s electric car plans are shaping up for the future. As before, the emphasis will be on the possibility of offering models at a low price. For this reason, Dacia is studying different options, including the choice to offer a small LFP battery, used by Volvo for the first time for the entry-level version of its latest electric model EX30. Dacia is also studying the possibility of using even cheaper sodium-ion batteries, where lithium a is replaced by sodium. The technology is currently being tested in China by BYD, the world’s largest CATL battery manufacturer.

As a summary conclusion, the company chooses the tactic of shorter autonomy and longer charging times, in order to keep production costs low. The electric Sandero will essentially be the Dacia version of the Renault 5, with an emphasis on user-friendliness and practicality. It should arrive by 2027 or 2028 and will be Dacia’s main electric model until 2034 or 2035.
