Only in January 2023, Da Nang Hospital (BV) recorded a sudden increase in the number of emergency stroke patients, coming from the central provinces. Alarmingly, the rejuvenation status of stroke patients accounts for 20%.
The designer (Son Tinh district, Quang Ngai province) said that her son is 22 years old this year. On the morning of the 2nd day of the New Year, while playing in front of her children’s house, she felt tired and fell down on the chair. Seeing that, she immediately called an ambulance to take her to Quang Ngai General Hospital, and at noon on the same day, she was transferred to Da Nang Hospital.
When admitted to the hospital, the doctors (BS) diagnosed her child with cerebral hemorrhage and performed emergency surgery on the same day. “Now I’m also partially awake but still have difficulty moving,” she said.

Dr. Duong Quang Hai, Deputy Head of Stroke Department at Da Nang Hospital, said that in the past 1 month, the unit has received and treated more than 400 stroke patients. A day, the hospital receives an average of 15 cases, some days up to 20 cases. Many patients are in a deep coma, mechanical ventilation, and need to use interventional measures.

“The young cases of stroke often fall into those with underlying diseases or congenital abnormalities. Besides that, there are also causes of disordered living habits, abuse of stimulants such as beer, alcohol, etc. Smoking, eating a lot of protein leads to chronic diseases… And finally, due to sudden changes in weather, especially in the cold season, blood vessels will easily constrict, increasing blood pressure leading to stroke.” – BS Hai said.
Doctor Hai recommends, when people show signs such as sudden inability to speak or hum, stimulated shouting, weakness in arms and legs on the same side, distortion of mouth, sudden coma and disturbance of consciousness… need to be brought to a medical facility immediately for examination and emergency. Should not use methods such as scraping the wind, pressing the mouth … but miss the golden hour.
