D. Tusk: Poland will prepare a list of changes to the Green Deal

Mr. Tusk said at a press conference after a meeting with farmers’ representatives: “It goes without saying that we are not talking about abolishing or getting rid of the entire Green Deal, but in fact practically all the provisions of the Green Deal related to agriculture and duty-free trade [su Ukraina]are additional barriers and must be suspended or withdrawn.”

He added that farmers are unanimous in their belief that the Green Deal dictates conditions and uses coercive tactics, such as no subsidies, unless certain actions are taken.

According to D. Tusk, this needs to be changed because “farmers are ready for a flexible and gradual implementation of the Green Deal, but they do not accept the imposition of provisions that are not entirely rational and, to put it mildly, excessive from the point of view of Polish agriculture.”

“And I’m on their side,” he added.

The prime minister also announced that Poland’s list of proposed changes will be drawn up in cooperation with farmers, including the note that Polish agriculture will not be interested in and will not comply with the provisions of the Green Deal if they are not changed.

The next meeting with the farmers should take place on March 5 or March 7, the prime minister added, and indicated that at the next meeting he would inform everyone “about the impact of the actions that have been taken or about the possible drastic decisions that will have to be taken if necessary.”

He said the meeting was unlikely to take place on March 6, when farmers plan to protest in Warsaw.
