“We are preparing documents so that all equipment and private investment, which generates more than 100 kW, cannot use any Chinese software,” D. Kreivys told Žinių radio on Thursday, when asked if Lithuania should abandon Chinese technologies in the country’s energy system.
“It is planned to do that. I think that the decisions we will make will solve the problem,” said the minister.
The Minister of Energy emphasized that state institutions are already prohibited from installing software made in China.
According to D. Kreivis, due to the increase in the number of household manufacturing users, there is currently no threat due to the excessive use of Chinese equipment in their devices.
“Since the risk is not high, it is probably not appropriate to limit the choices of the population for today,” said the minister.
The President of the Confederation of Lithuanian Industrialists Vidmantas Janulevičius said at the Seimas Economic Committee meeting at the end of March that Chinese software is often used in the installation of renewable energy capacities both in Lithuania and in Europe. He suggested looking for funds to replace Chinese technology in existing power plants with Western equipment.
