The Stastny brothers, Jaromir Jagr, Dominik Hasek and several other hockey legends find themselves in an embarrassing situation to say the least. The closure of the Czech Hockey Hall of Fame forces these sports legends to box up their old artifacts to take home.

In footage posted by journalist Zdekek Janda via his Twitter account, Hasek is seen gathering several personal belongings that bear witness to his glorious past in order to pile them into grocery baskets.

The former goalkeeper with a disheveled but spectacular style notably led his country to the conquest of gold at the Nagano Olympics in 1998. The “Dominator” also helped the Detroit Red Wings lift the Stanley Cup twice , in 2002 and in 2008.

From 1993 to 2001, he also won the Vézina Trophy six times, awarded to the best goaltender in the NHL.

In addition to Hasek, several hockey big names were in the Hall, including former Nordiques players Marian and Peter Stastny. These are Slovaks, originally from Bratislava, but represented Czechoslovakia on the international scene before defecting to Quebec.

There had been rumors for some time regarding the difficulties of the Temple located in Prague and economic reasons forced the official closure.

For the moment, items on display might be found at the O2 arena, in the same city. A new building housing the Czech Hockey Hall of Fame might eventually be built, but there is nothing official regarding it.

Jaromir Jagr, Martin Straka, Robert Reichel, Robert Lang, Milan Hejduk, Roman Hamrlik and Martin Rucinsky are some of the other players who have been inducted following enjoying good times in the NHL.
