Cypress Hill make “Simpsons” gag come true after 28 years

US hip-hop band Cypress Hill will perform with the London Symphony Orchestra at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in the British capital. “We’re celebrating The Simpsons: if they hadn’t written the episode, we probably wouldn’t be doing this,” said B-Real of Cypress Hill.

Episode from 1996

“It’s something we’ve been talking regarding since the episode first aired,” added the musician, whose real name is Louis Mario Freese. In the 1996 episode, the Cypress Hill musicians, who openly advocate marijuana use in their lyrics, believe they accidentally booked the LSO for a performance while stoned.

After fans of the hip-hoppers, the Simpsons and the famous classical musicians from London have been campaigning for a union on online networks for years, it is now set to become a reality. “It’s something very special for us. We’ve played in many historic venues over the course of our career – but none as prestigious as this,” B-Real told the BBC.
