Stefan Küng won the Tour du Poitou-Charentes. This is the second time in his career that the Thurgovian has won a stage race, following his victory in the Tour de Valence last year.
Stefan Küng (Groupama-FDJ) won the Tour du Poitou-Charentes. Leader of the general standings since his celebrated success in the time trial, the Thurgovian easily retained this 1st place. He finished 15th in the 5th and final stage, won in a sprint by Frenchman Lorrenzo Manzin in Poitiers.
In the final general classification, Küng won ahead of 2 other Frenchmen, the young and promising Kévin Vauquelin, 21 (Team Arkéa-Samsic), who finished at 21 seconds, and Pierre Latour (TotalEnergies) at 29 seconds. Küng, frustrated by the loss for half a second of his title of European time trial champion last week in favor of his compatriot Stefan Bissegger, therefore found a smile on the Picto-Charentaise roads.
