According to Australian media, former cyclist Rohan Dennis has been charged after the death of his wife Melissa Hoskins, hit by a pick-up.

Aged 32, this former Australian cyclist, specializing in road time trials and team track pursuits, died on Saturday evening, in hospital, according to local police, following “serious injuries”, after being hit by a pick-up vehicle, according to the media. In their statement, Australian law enforcement specified that “the driver is known to the woman”, without however confirming that it is indeed Rohan Dennis.

Dennis is expected to appear in March

It was the media which claimed that it was indeed the former cyclist, now 33 years old. The Australian, who announced his retirement a year ago, was under contract with the Dutch cycling team Jumbo-Visma until this Sunday, December 31, 2023. Released on bail, Dennis should appear during the month of next March. A time trial specialist, the former runner, in addition to his two world champion titles in this discipline, won two other team titles, in the same exercise, in 2014 then in 2015. Without forgetting his bronze medal, individually, at the 2021 edition of the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games in Japan. During his professional career, the Australian, who started on the track, also had the opportunity to shine on the Grand Tours.
