The European Cyber Week hasn’t started yet and the announcements are already coming. A few days before the opening of this high-profile cybersecurity event in Rennes (November 21-23), the company Secure-IC, a specialist in the protection of connected objects, unveils a major contract with the Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer MediaTek . A partnership whose financial details are not known, and which allows the technology of this Rennes company to be integrated into a new generation of smartphone processors, called Dimensity 9 300. “Millions of 4 nanometer chips will be equipped with our solution,” underlines the president of Secure-IC, Hassan Triqui.
Released at the beginning of November, the MediaTek chip is aimed at high-end smartphones and directly competes with one of the giants in the sector, the American Qualcomm. It should equip the first models (unspecified) by the end of 2023-beginning of 2024.
Building on this first collaboration, Secure-IC is already working on “the next generation” of MediaTek chips, which will be launched in 2024, indicates Hassan Triqui. Enough to enable the Breton SME (150 employees for a turnover of €20 million) to further strengthen its international presence. If the bulk of the troops are in Brittany, Secure-IC is today established in several countries in Europe, Asia, the United States and Morocco.
To accelerate its development and reach €50 million in turnover in 2025-2026, the company raised €20 million in January 2022 from several investment funds. New money, which, in particular, made it possible to buy the security activity of the Belgian Silex Insight in November 2022. Secure-IC should also announce, this Tuesday, November 21, the acquisition of a portfolio of patents from a French company.
