CD Projekt Red has been teasing the announcement of Cyberpunk 2077’s very first expansion for a few months now… But now, the Polish studio is going further and taking advantage of the Night City Wire event to bring this long-awaited DLC to light.
Towards new horizons!
It was during the Night City Wire event broadcast earlier in the evening that CD Projekt Red finally unveiled what we were all waiting for, the formalization of the very first expansion of Cyberpunk 2077. This very first long-awaited DLC is therefore called Phantom Liberty, and as certain rumors predicted, will offer players the opportunity to explore a whole new area of play. The latter already promises intense confrontations, since it takes us directly to a new place in Pacifica, a lawless district where anarchy reigns.
As the short trailer available above attests, it will therefore be necessary to expect to travel through closed and ill-famed environments where terror reigns and gangs with not very vocal members who make their fists talk.
Of course, V will still be the star of this new experience. Our hero created from scratch will also be able to take advantage of this new extension to discover a group of new characters, but also to face other known heads such as Johnny Silverhand. Yes, following the release of the trailer, Hollywood star Keanu Reeves confessed that he will resume his role as a rebel rocker in the game.
Discontinued old-gen versions?
However, if we already know that Phantom Liberty will arrive in only a few months, i.e. during 2023, note that the latter will leave some players on the floor. CD Projekt Red has indeed announced that the DLC will be released exclusively on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. In other words, following a catastrophic launch in 2020, especially on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, it seems that the Polish house is deciding to ignore old-gen versions in the future so as not to face a new controversy.
