Cyberpunk 2077 next-gen, l’analyse de Digital Foundry

Update 1.5 for Cyberpunk 2077 just published. Bringing improvements on all platforms but especially the long-awaited next-gen update. Several channels have seen the improvements it brings, but few with as much confidence as Digital Foundry. This section of the British site Eurogamer has become the reference in terms of video game technology on the web. And on this day, the technicians of DF were able to look into the case of Cyberpunk 2077which we report here.

Let’s start with the Xbox Series S version. On its original version, which was nothing but a slightly reworked One game, Cyberpunk was running at 1440p dynamically dropping down to 1080p under stress. The framerate was stuck at a fluctuating 30fps. After the patch, we go to 2304/1296p, going up to 2560p/1440p. Either increased sharpness, accompanied by an unwavering 30fps! Traffic on Series S is also up sharply, as well as the number of pedestrians. Most undeniable in a game that relies heavily on its atmosphere.

On Xbox Series X, we have the choice between two modes: Ray Tracing and Performance. The first replaces the Quality mode of version One. The latter offered an adaptive resolution between 1512p and 1720p. But post-patch, we go to 1440p. Regarding the framerate, the previous version ran at an almost constant 30fps, whereas today it will not oscillate a bit. The most undeniable of this mode is definitely the quality of the shadows. Because yes, Ray Tracing is not used on ambient lights. The exterior difference will be minor. But indoors, an additional layer of realism is added to the image. The objects come “to life”, the contours are more contrasted… In short, it’s more beautiful. The Performance mode offers us an almost constant framerate at 60fps. Much more consistent than was the One version. The resolution goes from 1080p previously to a spectrum between 1382p and 1728p adaptive. That’s a significant improvement from last year! The traffic and the peaks also being significantly up, the slap is not far away.

Not far, but not quite there. In any case, if we refer to Digital Foundry. According to them, the current version is much more qualitative than when it was released. But there is still room for improvement Cyberpunk 2077. With future patches, small bugs still present will have to be erased. And of course, other points will be improved.

Personally, I relaunch myself with passion in this Cyberpunk 2077. It was hard to wait for this next-gen patch, when I really wanted to dive back into Night City. But in the best possible conditions. And frankly, I take a crazy walk to browse this world. Incredibly immersive, beautiful to die for, the 1.5 update has sincerely benefited it. So yes, the gunfights are average, the inventories too dense, the dialogues too long and often uninteresting, but the rest is crazy. I’m talking in particular regarding the improved driving, loads divided by four and this atmosphere like no other. Get back into it, give it a chance with the trial gratuit of 5 hours. At least you can say you played it!
