O number of cyber attacks in the first quarter of this year there was an increase of 31% compared to the same period of 2022. In all, there were 43.3 billion threats identified, with March being the month with the most detections so far: 15.8 billion.
This information comes from the report Fast Facts March of Trend Micro, which for those who don’t know, is a world leader in security solutions for computer systems and networks. On the other hand, the number of ransomware attacks registered a drop of 12%, different from what was seen in the period from January to February.
Still on this category of attacks, Thailand is the leading country in the ranking that suffered the most attacks of this type. As for the most targeted sectors, the highlight is banking, which suffered 1,580 attacks during the month of March. Industry and Retail are close behind, with 1,207 and 1,043 attacks respectively.
Cyber attacks in Brazil
In Brazil, cybercrime is more focused on the government sector, in addition to education, technology and health. In addition, the country leads among those that send the most threats of extortion and sextortion (sexual blackmail), with 836 records identified, while the United States had 809.
