“We as the Schwarz Group had around 3,500 attacks a day before the Ukraine war. Now we are attacked 350,000 times a day, especially from Russia,” said CEO Gerd Chrzanowski to the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”.
In response, the Schwarz Group is developing security solutions based on artificial intelligence (AI) together with the US company ServiceNow. These should also be made available to competitors. “We compete on eggs, bananas and milk. But not on cybersecurity. We have to work together here. If one of us is attacked, it affects all of us.”
It’s about establishing “digital sovereignty” in contrast to US providers. “There is data that should not be on a server in another country.” The group is also planning a new AI platform for European retail by 2025, which will, among other things, avoid queues at checkouts.
