Cutting off your gas connection, is that a good idea?

Many people today would think regarding purely and simply stopping their gas connection. But is it really a good idea to close your counter? What does this imply?

First direct consequence of closing gas meters, your network manager ORES (Energy network operator) or RESA (Gas distribution network operator in the province of Liège) will close the valve and seal it with a seal. . The cost of this operation is 107 euros.

If you have opted for a temporary solution to heat yourself, such as a wood stove for example, keeping your gas connection without consuming a single cubic meter of it is not free. You will need to count around 27 euros per year for public service obligations, in particular a contribution to street lighting, 7 euros for the rental of the meter and 41 euros for administrative costs invoiced by your supplier, i.e. a total of 75 euros per year without consuming anything.

In fifteen months, the costs of closing the meter are amortized. If you decide to reopen your meter later, in this case, know that there will be no charge and that it is free.
