Customs caught a couple trying to smuggle historical banknotes from Uruguay

A couple tried smuggling into the country a collection of historical coins and bills, valued at more than 120 thousand dollars. The shipment was detected by specialized agents of the General Directorate of Customs-AFIP during a control operation in a Buquebus.

At the same time, in the collection there are coins dating back to the 18th century, of which the oldest is one from the kingdom of France dating from 1226-1270, when the crown was in the hands of Louis IX. The couple is prohibited from leaving the country.
