On the evening of January 31 (January 10), gold, silver and jewelry stores in Ho Chi Minh City began to receive a large number of customers. Many people are busy with work during the day, so after working hours, they start visiting shops to buy gold on the day of the God of Wealth.
Near 6:30 pm, the SJC store on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street (District 3, Ho Chi Minh City) had about 50 customers still trading. Many people sat waiting for the staff to call their names. Many customers asked to buy small SJC gold bars but the staff reported that 1-2-5 was out of stock only in the morning, so they switched to buying gold rings and pieces of godly gold. Some customers who have to fight on crutches still come to buy gold.

Waiting for more than 15 minutes to get the bill, Mr. Tam said that during the day he was busy going to work early in the morning, so he stopped at the store at 6pm to buy gold. “Every year, I usually go to buy early to buy SJC gold bars of grade 1 only, but this year, I went at night so it was out of stock, so I switched to buying a piece of godly gold,” he said. The staff here said that on normal days, until 16:30, the number was closed and the number was closed, and today from 9 pm to 10 pm, it is not known whether all customers are available or not.
Near 19:00, at an SBJ store on Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street (District 3), the sales staff shared dinner to continue working and advising nearly 20 customers. Like many large systems, the store staff said that only today will sell until there are no customers. Last year, this store was open until nearly 10 pm, while normal days only worked until 17:30. At this store, most customers pay mostly by bank transfer, so it’s not too crowded.

Not far away, the PNJ store on Hai Ba Trung Street (District 1) was packed with customers at 19:30 with nearly 100 people coming to shop. At the checkout and receipt counters, 20-30 customers lined up waiting for their turn. Some people just hold a small child in their arms while shopping.

Not only in big systems, a gold shop in Tan Dinh market area (District 1) is also full at 19:00 with more than 20 people coming to shop. Outside, 3-4 employees must be on duty to keep cars for customers.

At a gold shop on Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street (Binh Thanh District), there were too many people to buy gold, and cars spilled onto the roadway at nearly 20:00. Security guards also stand to assist store staff in regulating customers to avoid confusion and congestion.

Mr. To Thanh Hiep, General Director of SBJ, said that the company’s sales expected to increase by 10-15% compared to the same period last year.
On the evening of January 31, the price of gold bars at SJC sold at 67.6 million dong/tael, bought in was 66.2 million dong/tael. 99.99% SJC gold rings were sold for 55.5 million dong/tael, bought 54.3 million dong/tael. 24K gold jewelry has a listed price of 54.1-55.1 million VND/tael (buy – sell). Compared with the early morning of the same day, the gold price decreased slightly by 100,000-200,000 VND/tael depending on the type.
