On New Year’s Day, due to having to pay a higher salary than normal days, many inertia stores add surcharges. However, the surcharge is too high, too “careful” until the 8th and 9th of January, making customers angry.
Recently, MNN account (Da Nang) is upset because the bill paid at a cafe on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street (Hai Chau district, Da Nang) is charged an additional 30% of the service fee on Tet.
“X. Coffee, everyone. Dodge for me, my god, what do you think, that 8th… Coffee makes a plastic cup with a surcharge of 30%. Knives are too sharp, don’t cut in vain”, Ms. N posted.
Ms. N. has to pay an additional 30% (80,000 VND) for the bill of 267,000 VND including a few drinks. The total amount to be paid is nearly 350,000 VND.
N.’s post is attracting the attention of internet users. Some people expressed “let’s stop accepting Tet”, “it’s normal, it’s too much to compare”. On New Year’s Day, while many people are resting, some restaurants are still open to serve customers and have to pay employees twice and 3 times higher than weekdays, so the surcharge should also be understood. This year’s Tet holiday is a long one, so the surcharge will almost be exhausted on the 8th.
However, the majority of opinions are angry, saying that charging the surcharge until January 8, 9 is too much because the price of coffee is already quite expensive. Many restaurants take advantage of Tet to make more money from customers, not to pay more for employees.
“Abusing Tet, on the 6th, the workers have returned to normal work, why do they still charge extra fees”, an account commented.
“Businesses take advantage of turbid water, so they should boycott. The surcharge is intended to pay employees’ salaries, but I’m sure the 5th to 8th will calculate the Tet salary for employees.”
“What are the surcharges until the beginning of the month? On the 5th and 6th of the Lunar New Year, the staff is pulled out to make beer, but on the 8th, any shop will double the employee’s salary.”
“Vote to boycott shops that abuse Tet like this”.
“Wow, this shop surcharges a lot.”
“The surcharge until the 5th of Tet is fine, it’s the same everywhere. Autumn until the end of the mosquito net is a bit tight”.
“I don’t know if on the 8th, they still pay employees 3 times higher with a surcharge of 30%”.
Not only this address, but some other restaurants in Da Nang are also criticized by diners because the Tet holiday is over, but they still charge a surcharge of 15-20%.
Currently, the story of Tet surcharge is still the topic of discussion of the online community. To avoid the scene of being “hacked” and unnecessary trouble, customers should carefully research the price before entering the shop in these early spring days.
