When I pull up in this ministry vehicle, many people are puzzled, unsure how to classify it. They observe a simple box truck adorned with four sleek aluminum walls and equipped with solar panels that glisten under the sun. Upon stepping into the back, they are greeted by two private rooms featuring exam beds, while the rest of the interior boasts a vibrant, homey atmosphere with charming themed decorations that spark joy and curiosity.
A border official in Europe once inquired whether this peculiar vehicle functioned as a house or a medical truck. The answer revealed its true purpose: a custom-designed mobile medical clinic tailored specifically for the implementation of global health strategies across Europe. This remarkable vehicle came to fruition thanks to the generosity of donors to the Dr. Naylor Preach and Heal through Medicine Fund.

My dedicated team of IMB medical missionaries, alongside our national partners, began envisioning this essential ministry aid some time ago. Previously, we would set up makeshift medical clinics in various churches or community centers. These temporary facilities often consisted of a single room that we partitioned into exam spaces using blue tarps hung from the ceiling, which unfortunately lacked adequate privacy. Additionally, our response efforts during disasters and times of conflict were frequently hindered by a shortage of ready-to-use medical supplies and uncertainty regarding the availability of electricity or fuel for generators.
Recognizing the pressing need for a mobile clinic, we understood that one did not exist in our region of Europe. Thus, we resolved to create our own. After conducting extensive research and scouring the internet, we successfully located a plain box truck. We installed an electrical system complete with solar panels, and from that point, we embarked on an ambitious journey to renovate the vehicle to our specifications.
Imagine undertaking such a project in a foreign country where the language barrier poses significant challenges. To tackle this, I ventured to the local hardware store, smartphone in hand, with images of my needed supplies and Google Translate at the ready. Gradually, we transformed the back of the truck into a fully functioning clinic.
Getting people to ask questions
Instead of crafting a sterile clinical environment, our approach was to incorporate Bible stories into the room decor. I installed a boat-shaped bed, designed to evoke the parables Jesus illustrated around the Sea of Galilee, among other thoughtful elements aimed at igniting gospel conversations. When time with each patient is limited, such prompts spark curiosity and encourage inquiries about faith.
Thank you for being an integral part of meeting both physical and spiritual needs in communities worldwide. As we start utilizing this mobile clinic regularly, please pray for favor at customs checkpoints, that officials will permit our entry into their countries with this distinctive ministry vehicle. Pray that God uses this truck to create opportunities for sharing the gospel in areas that may resist traditional evangelistic methods.

**Interview with a Mobile Clinic Innovator**
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us today to share your inspiring work with mobile medical clinics. Can you start by telling us what prompted the creation of this custom-designed mobile clinic?
**Guest:** Absolutely! The idea emerged from our experiences providing medical assistance during disasters and in areas of conflict. We often relied on makeshift clinics in places like churches or community centers. While these setups were functional, they lacked privacy and were often temporarily assembled with limited medical supplies. We realized a dedicated mobile clinic would significantly enhance our ability to serve those in need.
**Interviewer:** It’s fascinating to hear about the challenges you faced. Can you describe what makes this mobile clinic distinct from previous setups?
**Guest:** The mobile clinic is designed for efficiency and comfort. Unlike our previous temporary setups with partitions made of blue tarps, this vehicle features two private exam rooms and an inviting atmosphere. We prioritized creating a welcoming environment with themed decorations that foster joy and curiosity among patients. This is especially vital in stressful situations, such as during health crises.
**Interviewer:** You mentioned that this project was made possible through donor support. How has that contributed to the clinic’s success?
**Guest:** The generosity of donors to the Dr. Naylor Preach and Heal through Medicine Fund played a crucial role in bringing this vision to life. Their commitment allowed us to transform a simple box truck into a fully-equipped medical facility. Moreover, their support ensures we can continue to stock our clinic with necessary medical supplies and maintain the solar power system, aiding us in regions where electricity can be a concern.
**Interviewer:** That sounds like a game-changer for health services in the region. How have local communities responded to the mobile clinic?
**Guest:** The response has been overwhelmingly positive! Many community members are intrigued by the clinic’s unique appearance. We had a border official ask if it was a house or a medical truck, demonstrating how it defies expectations. Once people step inside and experience the services we provide, they appreciate the professionalism and care we bring to underserved areas.
**Interviewer:** It’s heartwarming to see such innovation in healthcare delivery. What are your hopes for the future of the mobile clinic?
**Guest:** Our goal is to expand our reach across Europe, particularly in regions where medical services are limited or non-existent. We also hope to inspire similar initiatives in other areas of the world, demonstrating that with creativity and community support, we can improve access to healthcare, especially in crisis situations.
**Interviewer:** Thank you for sharing your insights and the incredible work you’re doing. It’s truly inspiring to witness such dedication to improving global health.
**Guest:** Thank you for having me! I’m grateful for the opportunity to highlight the importance of mobile medical solutions and the impact they can have on communities in need.
