Curuguaty bypass work will decongest vehicular traffic and access to nearby districts

Asuncion, IP Agency.- Construction of the bypass of the city of Curuguaty, Canindeyú department, is progressing steadily, with a 35.25% completion rate. In some areas, work is being carried out prior to the placement of asphalt on roads and shoulders as part of the structural package.

The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) stated that its construction is essential to ease traffic congestion in the central part of the city; improve road safety, mobility and facilitate access to other nearby districts such as Ypejhú, Villa Ygatimí, Nuevo Durango and Maracaná.

It is a road project that extends for more than 7 km from route PY03 to its junction with route PY13, in the double avenue sector.

In other sections, earthmoving work continues and embankments are being built on roads and shoulders. At the same time, complementary work is being carried out, such as the construction of fences, the installation of sewers and concrete-lined ditches.

The execution of the project is in charge of the company Isacio Vallejos SA, with an awarded amount of G. 39,533,343,034, while the supervision is carried out by CIA SA

Agricultural and livestock population

The city of Curuguaty has a very diverse economy, mainly in terms of agriculture, which is largely preserved. Among the crops registered within the municipality are sunflowers, wheat, sesame, stevia, cotton and soybeans.

According to the General Directorate of Statistics, Surveys and Census, the city has just over 76,000 inhabitants and a total area of ​​3,650 km².

Another of the economic activities that take place in Curuguaty is based on livestock, where cattle, mostly goats, among other small livestock animals, are raised.

Timber exploitation by large companies is part of the economic activity in the area, as is the planting, processing and marketing of yerba mate.
