Curtains on the first major cultural festival of Noya –

After three days of festivities, the first edition of the great cultural festival of Noya ended on August 24th on a note of satisfaction for all participants. Three main activities were highlighted, including Miss Noya, the culinary art competition and the dust ball.

The daughters and sons of the Noya department did not need to be asked twice to take an active part in the festivities related to the first edition of the great cultural festival of their locality. For the first evening, there were about ten renowned artists from Noya who took turns on the podium, to set the mood. Well-known rhythms that did not leave indifferent, not only the populations of the region, but also the guests, among whom, the former minister Raphaël Ngazouzé.

« I am very happy to be here and to see that the scenario went very well. A very rich cultural atmosphere. It naturally reflects the richness of the culture in the Noya department. I come out of there quite well edified because I have never attended such performances in Fang country and here today,” he confided.

Miss Noya was revealed at the end of a competition that saw the participation of five young competitors. Taking the lead in terms of presence and confidence on the podium, Marie Solange Mekina was crowned Miss Noya 2024. As a reward, the beauty queen of Noya was entitled to an envelope of 100,000 FCFA. Her two runners-up received respectively 75,000 FCFA for the first runner-up and 50,000 FCFA for the 2e.

It was on a compulsory dish of indigenous chocolate that the women of the department competed in culinary talent. Out of the 22 participants, if the three best obtained the envelopes provided for the occasion, i.e. 100,000 FCFA for the 1e 75,000 FCFA for the 2nde and 50,000 FCFA for the 3rdeeach of the cooks received an incentive envelope worth 15,000 FCFA. “I am a mother, I will take my children to the market with this money. I thank the Oba association which allowed the mothers to prepare,” said Christiane Zang Ndong, after winning the first prize in the culinary competition.

For a first attempt, the committee was delighted to have pulled off a masterstroke, given the enthusiasm for this event which aimed to meet the expectations of the CTRI which aims to encourage initiatives.

“You see it yourself, the population is very mobilized. It’s a joy. We are satisfied. The wish is that there will be a second edition with more innovations.”confided Yves Ndong Essone, promoter of the event.

It is therefore by mutual agreement that the daughters and sons of Noya have met for a second edition of the great cultural festival of Noya.
