From November 18th to 21st, 2024, a very special stage will once again be prepared for public procurement law. An academy, top-class executive talks and the presentation of the Schiefer Awards at the MAK are among the highlights.
After the successful premiere last year, Austria’s top public procurement law firm Schiefer Rechtsanwälte is inviting you to the Schiefer Festival again this year. Four days are dedicated to public procurement law and feature several program highlights that focus on the creative power and future relevance of public procurement.
From Monday to Wednesday the focus is on knowledge transfer, stimulating discussions and networking: as part of the open Schiefer Academy The law firm invites all interested parties to carefully curated specialist lectures on the topics that are currently most concerning to the procurement world: compliance, construction & infrastructure as well as AI & digitalization.
In the evening, the discussion format continues in the specially created location “The Bar – powered by Schiefer Gin”: three top-class speakers and from the press moderated Executive Talks are the highlight of the first days of the festival. The discussion begins with the topic “What is the state allowed to do, where does the freedom of the individual end?” Does the end justify all means?” on Monday, November 18, 2024. The following day, the panel will address the question “Infrastructure NOW! We haven’t finished building yet?! What needs to be built, when, where and how.” The finale of the Executive Talks deals with the highly topical topic: “What can and must digitalization & AI be able to do for research, health and business?” – this will take place on Wednesday, November 20th, 2024. Afterwards, guests have the opportunity to chat over drinks and finger food and end the evening.
The undoubted highlight of the event series is Presentation of the Slate Awards: These will be awarded in five categories on Thursday as part of a celebratory gala evening in the MAK’s colonnade: social, innovation, governance, ecology and digitalization. The event will be moderated by ZIB anchorwoman Nadja Bernhard. The German-Iranian ARD journalist and presenter Natalie Amiri provides thought-provoking ideas with a keynote speech.
“The aim of the evening is to inspire and encourage our guests and to show the almost endless possibilities of public procurement law“, says host Martin Schiefer. And there is a need for action: “The crises are omnipresent: Austria in recession, environmental disasters and, on top of that, ongoing inflation – too many problems, too much complexity. However, there are solutions to all of these challenges. Anyone who looks at home and abroad without prejudice and with open eyes will find many proven models and blueprints for sustainable business – including on our stage.”
