The portrait of a young girl has caused a stir on social media following she was returned to a charity shop twice, by two panicking customers, one of whom said ‘never want to see the damn thing once more’ from his life.

“She is back! Sold twice and returned twice! Are you brave enough?,” charity shop Hastings Advice Representation Center wrote on a post-it note, before displaying the painting for a third time at its facility in Saint Leonards-on-Sea, southern Ireland. England, according to a post on X (Twitter) on Tuesday.

The image of said painting has been viewed more than 8.8 million times on the social network while many netizens have advised the charity shop to burn the canvas as soon as possible.

According to the owner of the establishment, Steve, the portrait of the unknown girl, whose eyes “follow you all over the room”, was first bought by a lady, along with other frames and paintings, before to be returned alone two days later, he confided to “The Telegraph”.

“I have to get rid of it”, she would have launched, before speaking of an “aura” around the painting, whose artist is also unknown, reported the British newspaper.

But it was when a second woman reportedly brought the painting back following purchasing it, this time downright “terrified”, “shaking and distressed” and indicating “never wanting to see the damn thing once more” in her life that the owner would have added the note, he continued to the “Telegraph”.

Except that seeing the popularity of the canvas jump online on Tuesday, the woman reportedly returned to the store the next day – not without reluctance – to buy it once more, believing it might have some monetary value, the owner said.
