Current Circulation of Non-Influenza Respiratory Viruses and Incidence of Acute Respiratory Infections in Belarus

Currently, virologists note mainly the circulation of non-influenza respiratory viruses throughout the country, reports press service of the Ministry of Health.

Specialists register parainfluenza viruses, adenoviruses, PC viruses, rhinoviruses, and identify isolated cases of circulation of influenza viruses (A (H3N2), A (H1N1) and B).

The incidence of acute respiratory infections (ARI) is within the average data; more than 60% of those affected are children and adolescents.

In general, ARI accounts for more than 98% of all registered infectious diseases annually, the Ministry of Health noted.

“In all regions of the country, there is a weekly increase in the incidence of acute respiratory infections, including COVID-19. In the current epidemic season, high levels of influenza incidence among the population cannot be ruled out,” the report says. “However, an increase in the incidence of influenza is not expected in December 2023 , and from January to March 2024.
