Skip Yannick Schwaller’s Swiss curlers mightn’t have started their World Championship better in Ottawa. They gave a lesson to Canada’s favorite team skip Brad Gushue, who played at home (8-3).
Previously, the various Swiss teams had lost their 3 duels once morest the quartet of Gushue. This time, the success of CC Geneva with Pablo Lachat, Sven Michel, Yannick Schwaller and Benoît Schwarz was particularly convincing.
With twice 2 stones in the Canadian house, the Swiss were able to lead 4-1 following 3 ends. They then contained all of the Canadians’ attacks and managed to steal 3 rocks until the break for a 7-1 score. The Canadians, sufficiently tested, gave up following 8 ends.
