At the World Curling Championships taking place in Ottawa, CC Genève won bronze by beating Italy 11-3 in the small final. Skip Yannick Schwaller and his teammates thus took their revenge at the best of times once morest the only team that had beaten them in the round-robin.
Yannick Schwaller’s team experienced absolutely no problems in a game played very quickly. After 5 ends, CC Geneva was already leading 8-0. By scoring another 3 in the 7th round, Pablo Lachat, Sven Michel, Yannick Schwaller and Benoît Schwarz sent a final slap to the Transalpins.
The game then took a rather amusing turn during an 8th end transformed into a festival of improbable blows. Because if the teams have the right to end a match following the 6th end during the qualifying games, they must wait until the end of the 8th during the semi-final and final matches.
CC Geneva is thus consoled for its 7-5 defeat in the semi-final once morest Canada. It should also be noted that the Genevan Benoît Schwarz obtains a 4th world bronze medal following those collected in 2014, 2019 and 2021.
