Curfew to be reduced in Kyiv from March 26

The Kiev military city administration decided to reduce the duration of the curfew in the capital from March 26. Now the ban will be in effect from 00:00 to 05:00 daily. It currently starts at 23:00.

“The curfew reduction is coordinated with the aim of improving logistics in the capital of Ukraine, promoting the sustainable development of industry, entrepreneurship and the economy as a whole,” said Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv military city administration. His words are given in the Telegram channel of the administration.

Mr. Popko noted that the new curfew period will increase the time of public transport in Kyiv. In addition, the new regime will reduce social tension and increase production, which in turn will lead to the creation of new jobs.

On March 8, a petition demanding a reduction in the duration of the curfew in Kyiv gained the necessary 6,000 signatures for consideration. Its authors pointed out that due to the established curfew, most workers cannot get home on time.

The curfew began to operate throughout the Kyiv region following the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine. At first, the ban was in effect from 22:00 to 7:00. During this period of time, it was forbidden to stay on the streets and in other public places without specially issued passes and identity cards.
