Cureety: Revolutionizing Cancer Patient Monitoring with Remote App

2023-12-14 18:08:50

This is a small revolution in the monitoring of people with cancer. The Baclesse center in Caen is launching remote patient monitoring using an application developed by a Breton company. The anti-cancer institute joins the circle of around sixty European partner establishments in this system.

Since Monday, December 11, 2023, patients who request it and who are treated with intravenous chemotherapy can start using the application Cureety to monitor their health from home.

Ultimately, the application will allow the monitoring of patients who are continuing chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormonal therapy treatments.

Reduce patient hospitalization time

“Today, many treatments are done on an outpatient basis, which means that patients only stay for the day, explains Professor Roman Rozier, director general of the Baclesse Center. That’s not going to change tomorrow. On the other hand, it will reduce unexpected phone calls or unexpected hospitalizations.”

The application allows patients to provide information on their state of health on a day-to-day or weekly basis to notify the anti-cancer center teams of any improvement or deterioration in their follow-up. Side effects of treatments can therefore be anticipated and managed more quickly, which avoids hospitalizations following complications.

“In fact, we know that it works. What we don’t know today is the degree of benefit provided. And we are going to study that with a study which will begin in January. We will compare compared to the previous system (remote monitoring by telephone exchanges) and see the impact of this new system“, concludes the professor.
