Culture opens two lines of support for the cultural sector with European funds

The Department of Culture will open from January 11 two lines of aid to the cultural sector for a total value of 23.8 million euros from the European funds Next Generation.

These first two lines aim to modernize the infrastructures of the theatrical, dance, circus and musical stage facilities, as well as the endowment for libraries, whose period for submitting applications is 11 January. to February 14th.

One of the lines to finance the transformation, modernization and sustainable management of infrastructures reaches five million euros and will materialize in the updating of audio and network communication systems, digital lighting, digital video and digital management. of stage machinery, among others.

Beneficiaries include public and private facilities that regularly offer stable programming or professional live music programming rooms; each city council, entity or company may have a maximum of 200,000 euros.

Another of the lines will subsidize the acquisition of books for public libraries integrated into the Public Reading System of Catalonia and which are also listed in the “Directory of Spanish Libraries”.

Culture will also offer Next Generation grants to cinemas, to support cultural accelerators and grants for cultural offerings in non-urban areas, as well as funding for the digitization of real estate inventory, the digital transformation of historical archives and the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage.

The Department plans to manage 23.8 million euros in three annuities: 8.9 million euros in 2021, 11.8 million euros in 2022, and 2.9 million in 2023.

Next Generation funds have been approved by the European Union in order to drive the convergence, resilience and transformation of the economy following the pandemic.
