Cultural event of music, audiovisual and literature in Villarrica has as the protagonist the guarania

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Folkloric Ensemble of the National Symphony will perform in Villarrica as part of an educational concert with guaranias by Manuel Ortiz Guerrero and José Asunción Flores. The event will take place next Tuesday, September 17, starting at 7:00 p.m. on the esplanade of the Fermín López Municipal Museum. Admission is free of charge.

In the first part of the event, journalist and researcher Antonio Pecci will present an audiovisual about Guarania and its creator José Asunción Flores, which talks about the close friendship between the latter and the Guaireño poet Manuel Ortiz Guerrero. The script is based on what the musician wrote in his book ‘Memorias’. The artistic director of the OSN, maestro José Ariel Ramírez, who recently directed the world premiere of the symphonic piece for ballet ‘India’, verses by Manuel Ortiz Guerrero and music by José A. Flores, at the Municipal Theater of Asunción, will also address some aspects of Guarania.

In the second part, the OSN Folklore Ensemble will perform a selection of guaranias. At the end of the performance, Antonio Pecci, one of the editors of the book ‘Memorias’ by José A. Flores, will sign copies for the interested public. This activity is possible thanks to an initiative of the Culture Department of the Municipality of Villarrica.

On the morning of Wednesday, September 18, journalist Antonio Pecci will give a talk to high school students about the application of the guarania to UNESCO for its declaration as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, which would take place in the first days of December 2024.

This program is part of the Festival de la Raza, 41st Edition, which takes place in the capital of Guaireña.
