During a stream dedicated to the famous license Dragon BallBandai Namco made a shock announcement that delighted all fans of the saga.
Publisher Bandai Namco operates the franchise Dragon Ball Z in several forms. the excellent Dragon Ball Fighter Z d’Arc System Works (Guilty Gear) plays the role of a fighting game dedicated to eSports (where the French shine a lot). The other flagship title of recent years is called Dragon Ball Xenoverse, the second part of which, released in 2016, mixes combat and RPG elements in an adventure that is the legacy of the license’s 3D games. Finally, the recent Dragon Ball Z Kakarotreleased in 2020, attempted to incorporate an open-world system, while also reminding fans of the anime’s greatest moments.
Tenkaichi and the Time Room
Despite this plethora of representatives, to which we might add the gacha Dragon Ball Z Legends with undeniable success, a title immediately arouses nostalgia among players passionate regarding Son Goku and his band: Tenkaichi. During its last streaming event, the publisher released a teaser hinting at a reboot or an upcoming fourth episode, and the explosion of joy on the networks lived up to this long wait. Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3the latest installment on home consoles, was released just over 15 years ago on PlayStation 2 and Wii.
A promising transformation
The teaser begins with a sequence of the original game on a vintage cathode ray screen, but it quickly gives way to a modernized version, which removes any doubt on the release of a next game with the transformation of Son Goku into Super Saiyajin God Super Saiyajin, a new form that appeared in Dragon Ball Super.
This novelty therefore rather suggests a sequel in its own right, with a modernized game system and an achievement at the height of current generation consoles. No release date has been communicated for the time being, but we will closely follow the next communications from Bandai Namco on this subject.
