Financial NetworkAuto News on June 12, Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the China Passenger Car Association, recently released an analysis report on the automotive market segment trends and manufacturers’ competition performance in May.

In May, my country’s automobile production and sales reached 1.926 million and 1.862 million, up 59.7% and 57.6% month-on-month, and down 5.7% and 12.6% year-on-year. From January to May 2022, the production and sales of automobiles will be 9.618 million and 9.555 million, respectively, down 9.6% and 12.2% year-on-year.

He believes that up to now, except for a small number of enterprises that have not resumed work due to the impact of the epidemic, automobile enterprises across the country have resumed work and production well. The flow of production personnel, logistics and transportation, and supplier supply have all improved significantly, and production capacity has gradually climbed. .

Cui Dongshu pointed out that the epidemic in May 2022 has caused great pressure on traditional car companies, especially the impact of new energy and the impact of the epidemic, the performance of large state-owned groups is divided, and the performance of FAW, Great Wall, BAIC and other companies in the north are all under pressure; GAC and Chery performed Excellent, among which Chery’s commercial vehicle and passenger vehicle segments performed well.

New energy companies such as BYD performed well. Tesla has had a relatively strong year this year. The performance of second-tier car companies is relatively stable. Due to the conversion of old and new kinetic energy and the continuous loss of new energy vehicles, the differentiation of small and medium-sized enterprises of independent brands is seriously sluggish.

The auto market in May was relatively poor, and the trends of various companies were differentiated under the epidemic. Most of the main manufacturers have experienced a big decline, but there are also sprints such as BYD. Of course, since the sales of the auto market in May were affected by many factors, the trend of manufacturers does not represent a sustainable trend in the future.

Cui Dongshu believes that new energy passenger vehicles will continue to maintain rapid growth in 2022, with sales of 1.89 million units from January to May, a year-on-year increase of 120%. The overall trend of the new energy passenger vehicle market rebounded in May, and the growth rate is currently at the level of 1.1 times.

The trend of new energy vehicles and traditional fuel vehicles is strongly differentiated, realizing the substitution effect on the fuel vehicle market, and driving the auto market to accelerate the pace of transformation to new energy.
