MIAMI, United States. — Cubana de Aviación will inaugurate the Buenos Aires-Cayo Coco-Havana route next Wednesday, May 3, which will directly connect the capital of the South American country with the famous Cuban tourist destination for the first time.
Although new flights between Buenos Aires and Havana had originally been announced since May 2, the Cayo Coco variant was recently introduced and will be presented within the framework of the International Tourism Fair of Cuba (FITCuba 2023).
In statements collected by the state agency Latin PressVenus Rodríguez, general manager of the Cubana de Aviación company in Argentina, indicated that the objective of the operations was to “continue connecting both towns.”
According to the state agency, Cubana obtained the permission of the National Civil Aviation Administration of Argentina prior to the confirmation of the start of the flights.
The Buenos Aires-Cayo Coco-Havana route will be operated by Airbus A340 aircraft, with capacity for around 300 people, including passengers and crew.
“We want to transmit confidence to our tour operators, travel agencies and hotel chains. It is a safe and stable operation with a large A340 aircraft and capacity for 275 passengers, 240 of them in economy class”, confirmed Venus Rodríguez in a meeting with tour operators, representatives of hotel chains and more than 200 travel agents.
In principle, Cubana de Aviación has the authorization until October 25 of this year. To continue operations following that date, the corresponding renewal will be requested.
The Buenos Aires-Cayo Coco-Havana flights will begin with a weekly frequency every Wednesday, although the company is expected to increase the frequencies next year.
