Cuban Family Injured in Brazil Car Accident – Latest News and Updates

Three adults and a child, all Cubans, were injured in a traffic accident in Brazil. The event took place following the vehicle overturned and fell down a ravine in the municipality of Rorainópolis, in the south of the state of Roraima. As a result, the car was submerged in a lake.

The accident occurred on the morning of May 29, on the BR-174 highway, which connects the states of Roraima and Amazonas. The driver of Brazilian citizenship was also injured, according to reported a local medium.

A group of Military Police officers who were traveling through the region found the wounded on the side of the road.

The 56-year-old driver gave authorities details of the time of the accident. As he declared, he was taking the Cubans to Manaus, the capital of the state of Amazonas. As he came to a curve, he lost control of the vehicle, which then flipped over and rolled down a ravine until it ended up in the water.

Upon arriving at the scene of the incident, the police officers removed the 32-year-old woman from the vehicle. She is she had not managed to get out of it because she was severely injured, unable to move her hands and legs. In addition, she reported having severe pain in the cervical region.

After the event, the police activated the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) and took the injured to the Ottomar de Souza Pinto Regional Hospital, in the Brazilian city of Rorainópolis.

Until now, the state of health of the wounded Cubans is not known, nor is the life of any of them in danger. Details of their identities have not been released either, only that the child is 5 years old, and the adults are no more than 39 years old.

The car might not be extracted from the water because it was in an area of ​​difficult access. Special equipment is required to undertake such work.
