The “Abel Santamaría Cuadrado” International Airport, located in the city of Santa Clara, successfully completed all its planned operations this Friday, guaranteeing the necessary services for both passengers, crew members and aircraft.
Despite the current contingency of the national electrical system, airport authorities have assured that all facilities have energy backup systems to guarantee their operation.
In this regard, the Minister of Transportation of Cuba, Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, confirmed this Friday that the country’s international airports, including their systems and services, are prepared to maintain their usual operation thanks to their own backup electricity generation.
Cuba’s 10 international airports have energy backup, the government assures
“The facilities, systems and services of Cuba’s international airports have their own backup electricity generation and maintain their normal operation,” highlighted the governor.
For its part, the Cuban Aviation Corporation (CACSA) issued a statement emphasizing that the country’s ten international airports, including Santa Clara, are equipped with alternative energy sources to ensure the continuity of service to aircraft.
“The country’s 10 international airports have energy backup to guarantee all aircraft services,” the statement indicated.
Despite these statements, worrying images about the situation at Cuban airports have gone viral.
