Cuban actor Ulyk Anello, who has been living in Miami since October 2022, recently opened up and confessed that he has been hungry in the United States, after days without eating.
Anello, known in Cuba for his performances in film and television, revealed in a recent interview with Dominican YouTuber Destino Tolk the challenges he faces as a migrant in the United States.
During the conversation, Anello confessed that the withdrawal of food stamp benefits by the U.S. government has left him in a critical situation, with days when he has not had enough food.
“I have gone days without eating. While I had the food stamps everything was fine, but when they took them away I no longer have enough to pay rent, car insurance, or food,” she said.
In the video images, actor Ulyk Anello looks much thinner than when he lived in Cuba, something that may be due to the need for food and the hunger situation he has experienced in Miami.
Anello revealed in an interview that she went through a deep depressive crisis, to the point of questioning her desire to continue living. However, she found the strength to move forward in the love of her children and her mother, who have been her greatest support in the most difficult moments.
Ulyk Anello: hunger and need in Miami?
Anello’s experience reflects the harsh reality faced by many migrants, who, despite being recognized for their talent in their countries of origin, must overcome enormous challenges to achieve success in a new environment.
Anello said the hardest thing he’s done in Miami to make a living was as a delivery driver and no one ever gave him an extra tip.
“The only thing that is free here is the air you breathe, for the rest you have to work really hard,” a Cuban responded to the actor.
