Cuba will use money from Brazil to improve the infrastructure and operation of several of its airports, official sources confirmed this week.

Within the framework of the II International Transport and Logistics Fair (FITL), which ends today in Pabexpo, the Cuban Company of Airports and Airport Services SA (ECASA) and Infraero, its Brazilian counterpart, signed a collaboration agreement.

Juan Carlos Quintana, general director of ECASA, mentioned that the agreement will improve the conditions of Cuba’s international airports and optimize their operations. Although he did not specify which airports would benefit from this injection of Brazilian capital.

In this regard, Aparecido Luiz da Silva, director of administration of Infraero, pointed out that this agreement represents a first step for cooperation with Cuba in air transport and tourism.

The agreement covers exchange of information and experiences in airport management, training and training of personnel, infrastructure improvements, technical and specialized assistance and development of other joint projects, between Brazil and Cuba.

Both parties highlighted the importance of this agreement to strengthen relations between Cuba and Brazil in the air transport sector and contribute to the development of tourism in both countries.

The works, which are part of an extensive maintenance program, include renovation of the paint both inside and outside the airport, repair of premises and common areas, improvement of gardening and landscaping, updating of the signage system and optimization of passenger services.
