CSTO forces will leave the country within 12 days

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced to parliament that the Collective Security Treaty Organization, a Russian-led military bloc, will begin withdrawing its forces from his country within two days.

He added that the troops will leave the Central Asian country completely within a period of ten days.

Kazakhstan has requested military assistance from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) amid violent unrest hit it last week.

In another context, Tokayev announced the candidacy of Ali Khan Ismailov for the post of prime minister, in a speech to Parliament during the session, which was broadcast live on state television.
The House of Representatives of Kazakhstan voted in favor of appointing Ismailov to the post.
Ismailov, 49, was the first deputy prime minister in the previous government that Tokayev sacked last week amid violent unrest in the oil-rich Central Asian country.
