The figure of the guarantee judge comes into operation in the coming days across the country. The matter was analyzed today, Monday, 6th, in Luanda, during the Plenary of the Superior Council of the Judiciary.
The CSMJ plenary met, on an extraordinary basis, to evaluate the vacancy left by Judge Exalgina Gamboa, as President of the Court of Auditors, having appointed Judge Domingas Alexandre, on an interim basis, to assume the position of President of the TC.
Among various matters, the plenary also analyzed matters related to the entry into operation, at the national level, of the constitutionally foreseen figure of the guarantees judge.
At the beginning of the works, the presiding judge of the Supreme Court and of the Superior Council of the Judiciary, Joel Leonardo, underlined that the consecration of guarantee judge in the Angolan legal system, was created through the approval of the Code of Criminal Procedure of 2020, and appears for the purpose of safeguarding and protecting the rights and guarantees of freedom of citizens.
