Crystal Palace defender Anderson receives death threats after Nunes’ red card

London: Crystal Palace defender Joachim Anderson has revealed that he and his family have received death threats following the incident in which Liverpool player Darwin Nunes received a red card during the English Premier League match on Monday.

Nunes was sent off during the 1-1 draw at Anfield. In the 57th minute of the match, the referee gave Nunez a straight red card for a headbutt on Joakim Anderson. Anderson tried to provoke Nunes throughout the match. Nunes responded following this.

After this, Andern says that he received many abusive messages on Instagram. “Last night I got regarding 400 messages. I understand you support a team, but you have to have some respect for the opposition. Online abuse has to stop,” Anderson told Archyde.com, sharing screenshots of the nasty messages and death threats he had received.

Following the red card, Nunes might be banned for up to three matches.
