Workers gathered within the National Union of Workers of the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Employment Promotion (Synatra-Mpmepe), held a sit-in this Monday, March 26, 2024. In a motion read by the Representative staff, Félicité Comlanvi Savi and received by the Chief of Staff Koladé Okoudjou, on behalf of Minister Modeste Kérékou, they denounce the progressive reduction of their working conditions.
It was in an electric atmosphere that the workers gathered within the National Union of Workers of the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Employment Promotion expressed their dismay at the decline in their working conditions. Dressed in red with red banners on their foreheads, they were able to find the appropriate means to make their cry of distress heard. They are demanding, among other things, immediate payment to Mpmepe staff, fuel allocation for the first quarter of 2024 following the memos taken by the various managers of their structures; the satisfaction of all their demands which have remained unanswered since 2017; consultation for the opinion of the union on all questions affecting the interests of ministry agents; the response to the hearing letter sent to the Authority by the union.
Indeed, according to the protest motion, on March 12, 2024, in a circular note, the provision of fuel to ministry agents was ended. And to the great surprise of the said agents, the minister proceeded to implement the measure, from March 13, 2024. Which makes them say that the minister is “in the secret of the gods”, despite his explanations tending to clear customs. The agents base their apprehension on the delay in purchasing fuel, which would be done on purpose, and the fact that the minister would have insisted that the note concerned staff, which research has denied. So while recognizing the minister’s sensitivity to their problems, especially at the start of the magisterium, the union still notes the progressive degradation of the social situation so much advocated by the minister. “We see that as time progresses, elapses, the social long advocated is withering away,” they declared. They only want as examples the gradual elimination since January 2017 of their benefits, moving from Mtfpas to Mpmepe and the promises of intercession for the restoration of their Mejpme bonuses received until December 2016, at the advent of the Rupture. However, according to the staff representative, despite the non-satisfaction of this demand appearing on their platform, they still reiterate their confidence in the administration.
Caution
The union warns once morest any hesitation or any effort at “fallacious” justification to delay the provision of staff allocations, which will be considered on the one hand as complicity with the Dncf and on the other hand as a desire to (provocation) once morest Mpmepe agents. Synatra–Mpmepe, like the trade union organizations loving peace and social justice, intends to defeat any initiative to impoverish workers.
