According to local reports, the atmosphere suddenly turned violent as the goalkeeper threw the prominences thrown onto the ground by the fans back into the opposing team’s stands.
It was the first crowd intrusion in Australian league history and no arrests were made at the scene, but an investigation was ongoing.
In the end, the match was canceled due to continued riots from the fans, and the Victory club apologized in a statement to “everyone who witnessed these horrific actions”.
