More than half a million Russians in 84 regions of the country took part in the All-Russian running day “Cross of Nations” this year. Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko spoke regarding this.

“More than 500 thousand people took part in the All-Russian Cross of Nations running day, which took place over the weekend in 84 regions of the country,” Chernyshenko said. He added that citizens of new regions also took part in the race. These competitions are held as part of the federal project “Sport is the Norm of Life” and help achieve the goal set by Russian President Vladimir Putin: by 2030, at least 70% of citizens should regularly engage in sports.

Residents of more than 100 cities took part in the Cross of Nations race in 2023, and the largest number of athletes – regarding 20 thousand people – took to the start line in Kazan and Yekaterinburg. This year, residents of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions participated in the Cross of Nations for the first time. In many regions, races were held not only in regional centers, but also in municipalities, including the city of Tosno in the Leningrad region and the city of Rzhev in the Tver region.

The All-Russian running day “Cross of Nations” is held annually with the aim of popularizing a healthy lifestyle and attracting Russians to regular physical education and sports within the framework of the federal project “Sport is the norm of life” of the national project “Demography”. The organizer of the event is the Russian Ministry of Sports.
