Electrification has not bypassed the Lamborghini company. By the end of 2024, it will completely switch to the production of rechargeable hybrids: the flagship Revuelto supercar is already ready, the successor to the junior Huracan model and the hybrid version of the Urus crossover will arrive in time within a year. There are also plans for electric cars, but Lamborghini will not switch their usual models to fully battery power yet. For this, a fourth car will appear in the range. And now the first prototype of such an electric car is ready – Lamborghini Lanzador.
The format of this machine in the company is referred to as the term Ultra GT. This is a powerful coupe with high ground clearance and a 2 + 2 landing formula, suitable for driving on not the most smooth roads (but not off-road). The height of the car is regarding 1.5 m, that is, like a typical modern passenger car, but the proportions are like a supercar, and the wheels are 23 inches in diameter.
If we approach the terminology as scrupulously as possible, then the Lanzador is a three-door hatchback, in which the main rear trunk can be increased by folding the backs of the separate rear seats. There is also an additional storage compartment at the front. There is an active aerodynamics system ALA (Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva), but not the same as the previous Huracan Performante and Aventador SVJ models. The front splitter, rear diffuser and flaps in the front bumper are movable, which open channels to the front wheel arches. The system has Efficient and Downforce modes.
Inside, there are two main screens on the front panel (in front of the driver and passenger) and three more instead of the usual mirrors. The panoramic roof consists of three longitudinal sections. The button for starting the power plant, traditional for Lamborghini models, hidden under the cover, has been retained.
Of course, the most interesting thing is the technique! But there is not much information regarding her yet. Lamborghini Lanzador has three traction motors – one on the front axle and one on each rear wheel. Their total power will exceed one megawatt, that is, 1360 hp. Chassis – with adjustable air suspension, adaptive dampers and rear axle thruster. The new driving electronics complex LDVI (Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata) has more sensors and more complex algorithms. That’s all the information.
Lamborghini gave itself another five years to fine-tune its first electric car – the serial Lanzador should appear only in 2028. During this time, engineers will try to instill in the train the breed and driving character of the current gasoline Lamborghini. But it has already been promised that Lanzador will be produced at the same single plant in Sant’Agata Bolognese, where other models of the company are made. This will require another expansion of production, but no contract assembly.
