Nadine Fähndrich did not shine during the 20 km skating pursuit in Oberstdorf, 4th stage of the Tour de Ski. The Lucernoise took 16th place, 2’36 behind Sweden’s Frida Karlsson.
Overall, Fähndrich has lost a place and is now in 13th position. Its delay compared to the top-10 – its objective – amounts to 50 seconds. The Swiss hopes to get closer on Friday during the sprint in Val di Fiemme, provided that the efforts made since the start of the event have not taken too much energy from her. She will be aiming for a 4th success in the sprint this winter.
Frida Karlsson, for her part, seems well on her way to putting her name on the Tour de Ski list for the first time. She already has a minute and a half lead over the Norwegian Tiril Weng, the leader of the World Cup.
The success record for Klaebo
Among the men, Johannes Hösflot Klaebo did not tremble. With 15 victories in this stage race, the Norwegian is now the sole record holder. Previously, he shared that stat with Poland’s Justyna Kowalczyk and fellow countrywoman Therese Johaug.
The chase quickly turned into a peloton race, as Klaebo and Simen Hegstad Krüger did not accelerate and there were almost 30 riders left at the end. It is for this reason that Klaebo lost a large part of his lead in the Tour de Ski classification. He only has a 12 second lead over the Italian Federico Pellegrino and 14 over the Norwegian Paal Golberg.
The Swiss also joined the main peloton in this pursuit and they are 3 in the top-30 with Candide Pralong (22nd), Beda Klee (23rd) and Cyril Fähndrich (28th). In the general classification, Pralong is the best Swiss with his 24th place at 2’13.
